Dogs make excellent companions and everyone at some point in their life requires a companion. It is also possible to get dogs that make excellent guard dogs but even these dogs will be great companions. These are the ideal companions because they will not answer you back or go in a sulk. Dogs have proven to be great companions for the several thousands of years, and they are in fact the oldest companions for humans. It is very true to say that dogs can give humans a vast amount of comfort and this is the main reason why they also make good methods of treatment for several different conditions.
The various different ways that dogs can contribute to society has been recognised over the years and this has lead to the development of a vast number of other dog breeds. All the different varieties of dogs are actually part of a single species. This species is the most varied of animal species and it ranges from the very small Chihuahua to the largest, which are Great Danes.
Over the years the dogs have become more associated with humans and there is now only two breeds of wild dogs that are the Austrian Dingo and also the Cape Hunting Dog. These dogs still live in many different countries and there are packs of these dogs that roam around and have an independent lifestyle.
One thing that is very remarkable about dogs is their ability to reproduce regardless of the breeds involved. This ability to reproduce has led to the development of many different breeds being developed over the centuries.
It is not possible to determine exactly how many different breeds there is in the world but there is thought to be in excess of four hundred different breeds.
